The Passionate Pianist

Lina begged for beginner piano lessons when she turned 8. We felt third grade would be the right time to commit to learning a musical instrument. She had her 12th weekly lesson already and her wonderful teacher has been so complimentary about Lina's focus, dedication and enthusiasm. As she "removes the training wheels" and learns how to read notes on a musical staff soon, Lina will develop patience and persistence.

Her teacher is a composer, singer and pianist...just like Lina aspires to be (in addition to becoming an artist, writer, veterinarian and robotic scientist). Lina's musical aptitude (I am told) is evident. Lina has enjoyed creating her own original compositions (melody+lyrics) since she was 2 3/4 years old...singing and improvising on various musical instruments (toy drums, shakers, harmonica, toy guitar, lap harp and mini keyboard). Now she is working privately with a music teacher who encourages Lina to continue to develop these interests. Lina has a good ear for music (playing "Ode to Joy" or "Lean on Me" by ear), but now she can locate the proper notes on a piano (and understand note duration) using sheet music for easy songs like "Jingle Bells," "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" and "Pachelbel's Canon."
