Dyker Heights Christmas Lights and Displays

Dyker Heights in Brooklyn is famous for going all out with over-the-top Christmas decorations. There was the PBS TV documentary "Dyker Lights," and the nabe was featured on TLC's Crazy Christmas Lights and also a segment on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. These lights and huge displays (some inflated, some with sounds or motion) can draw more than 100,000 people to the neighborhood during this festive month. It was our first trip and well worth it. Our friends drove us so we didn't have to go through a long subway commute nor pay for an expensive tour. We took a leisurely walk around the area to enjoy the views for free...a nice way to kick off the Christmas celebration this month. (Click on an image to see larger view of my photos.)
