little house with a door and brown crayon chosen

Spectacular beginning to fall 2011...love the art class and the studio workshop for this semester - great teachers, bright kids and friendly parents (I'll try to take some pics and post them in December)...and lots of fun activities are planned with LC's best friend, V, all over NYC. Enjoying the wonderful weather...LC and I walk 2 miles a day, easily. Can't wait for lots of leaves to change color and fall to the ground, so we can gather some for home-based art (LC spotted a few yellow and red ones on the trees already...waiting to spot orange and purple, too.)

Here are a few remaining pics for September, taken at our home. LC said "this is a little house with a door on it!":

Brown crayon takes center stage:

She likes to arrange the animal magnets on her magnetic board. She can't wait for us to get a pet.

I'm Going to be Sparkly

LC getting over a cold...relaxing on the couch this evening, breaks out into song...here's her songwriting magic:

"I'm going to be sparkly, sparkly, sparkly...
I'm going to be sparkly, sparkly, sparkly...all day long.

I'm going to be sparkly - not too big, not too small.
I'm going to be sparkly, sparkly, sparkly...all day long."

my sweet little treat for Halloween

We were at the playground for at least 2 hours today...LC had a fun game of chase with 4 boys her age. She stated "I chase you now! We playing chase." They ran for cover behind their care-takers. Developmentally, she has moved on easily to cooperative play...but some 3 year olds seem to be in parallel play mode, still. When we got home...she tried on a Halloween costume. We're already looking forward to the ton of fun we will have this Halloween...with all the events scheduled for kids leading up to the big day. LC doesn't really know Halloween is about candy for most kids. Last year, after we marched in a parade...I let her take one piece of candy, as a treat. It's more about dressing up in a costume, joining other kids to celebrate and some slightly spooky fun etc. LC really wants to be an ice cream cone this year:

Creature of Collaboration

We took turns with the chalk...LC drew the eyes, nose, mouth, legs, feet, arms...I added a head, hair, ears, body, toes, hands and a belly button. LC was quite satisfied with our chalk creature. As with everything else, LC wants to name it Petek.

it was a great summer & we're gearing up for fall 2011

We had such a nice play date recently, with LC's best friend, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We attended Puppetonia...a mix of puppets, dancing and music...an "interactive, entertaining and educational puppet show" for young kids.

We had an awesome summer...lots of good trips...we went to farms, boat rides, amusement parks, museums, playgrounds, pony rides, restaurants, live shows, beaches, movie theaters, aquariums, zoos...and many visits with friends and family, too. It's almost fall now and we're going back to a routine of classes (starting with yoga, art, music/dance), museum workshops, nature walks, various playgrounds...and some exciting live performances coming up, too...in my favorite neighborhoods in NYC! LC is making a lot of new friends, wherever we go...and we chilax at home to gear up for our fun adventures out in the world.

happy face, stroller, mama having fun at the beach

Last days of summer (it's getting hot & humid again, still very rainy)...LC is getting lots of enjoyment out of her crayons and chalk. Here she is with her chalkboard, making a happy face.

LC said "this is a stroller":

using office supplies, in lieu of stickers

Fear not if you run out of stickers, at home...you can substitute with reinforcements, file folder labels and photo corner self-adhesives...certainly was a hit with LC this weekend. Happy Labor Day!

"I want triangles!" she announced...and luckily I had some black and clear photo corners left.

She was very pleased with the box of labels.

"Look LC, white circle stickers," I announced. LC said "I love these stickers! I pretending I making a map."
